U.S. Post Office...charging consumers for tape at counter! A sign of tough economic times!
OMG!
When I spotted the sign posted haphazardly in the window this morning - one thought crossed my mind - you betcha.
Times must be tough!
What is a tell-tale sign of that?
The cashiers at the Fairfax Avenue post office have haphazardly slapped a notice in the window which says it all:
Customers must pay for their own tape!
My first knee-jerk reaction?
If the company that manufactured the envelopes (the U.S. Government?) wasn't so stingy with the glue on the flap of the envelope, just maybe, folks wouldn’t need a strip of scotch tape to seal it securely in place on the reverse!
But, I expect it is because of the thoughtless (and extravagant) few, that the rest of us must pay now.
For example, on many occasions I have spied real losers trek into the post office with a misshapen box to ship across the country (even overseas) with the contents spilling all out.
“You’re going to have to tape that up, Sir,” the clerk invariably barks at the customer, as they sheepishly reached for the “house” roll of tape to bandage the package up in several feet of the sticky stuff.
Yes, there outta be a law, folks.
What is the post office going to ding us for next, I wonder.
Personal service at the counter???
E-mail is lookin’ better-and-better every day!
Stay posted for updates.
