Mr. Manners (aka Julian Ayrs)...bad manners run rampant on Metro line subway!

The Toronto Subway System is the best in the world!

I’ve always been aware to be mindful of proper etiquette whenever I commute on public transportation – especially in respect to the underground subway – because I was raised in a civilized community (Toronto) which boasts one of the most efficient rapid transit systems in the North America.

In Los Angeles, however, the locals act like a pack of wild animals whenever they embark on their commute each day with only their own selfish needs in mind.

For example, when the doors open on the Metro line trains, a crush of rude commuters push their way forward to secure a coveted seat inside before the passengers onboard have even had the opportunity to exit.

I was always taught to allow passengers to disembark first.

It's a matter of common sense.

After all, once the commuters have exited the train, it's a lot easier for the new passengers to board the car without any pushing or shoving required.

You’d think that the jerk-offs who don't observe this "golden rule" would be able to figure it out for themselves.

Duh!

I chalk it up to lack of good breeding.

Were these folks born in a rural community – and likewise - raised in a barn?

The ignorant behavior also prevails on the escalators, too.

In most cities, commuters stand on the right and allow fellow city dwellers to walk up the escalator on the left, if they so desire.

In the subways in Los Angeles, it’s quite a different story.

Commuters in the “big bad orange” hop on the moving steps any which way they can on the escalator – and consequently – end up blocking the passengers behind (trying to run to catch a bus up on the street or a train down below).

Sheesh!

Folks who drive should be familiar with the concept:

Travel on the right and pass on the left!

But, for some inexplicable reason, the dumb-asses remain clueless day-in and day-out (even as commuters are noticeably chomping at-the-bit all around them trying to get by).

I chalk it up to low intelligence, bad manners, and a lack of sophistication.

No wonder city residents prefer to drive their autos (and damn the environment).

It’s too frustrating to have to rub elbows – or even breathe the same air – with these farmers who should have stayed home in the sticks!

Amen!
