Michael Phelps…was named Male Athlete of the year by the prestigious Associated Press this past week. Phelps, 27, received 40 “fins” up from the newswire’s American editors and broadcasters, just beating out basketball star LeBron James (who rustled up 37 votes). Usain Bolt, a Russian runner, lagged behind in the number three spot with 23 nods of approval.
