Julian Ayrs Celebrity News...Hugh Grant pain in a** says Jon Stewart! Taylor Swift shrine at Walgreens! Ben Affleck for Senator?

Hugh Grant...an overseas weekly is reporting that popular talk-show host - Jon Stewart - has been on the rag about the handsome actor’s alleged snubs toward his staff and crew when he last put in an appearance on the daily gab fest. "Hugh Grant is a pain in the a**," he allegedly sniped to a reporter at the tabloid. I wonder if it’s all a misunderstanding, though. After all, Brits tend to be somewhat cool and reserved from the get-go. Maybe Stewart was reading too much into his aloof behavior? Or, just maybe, Grant is suffering a backlash from the hacker scandal he was embroiled in last year? Personally? I was strolling down the street one day in Studio City, when I crossed paths with Grant, and I found him to be quite pleasant, outgoing, and approachable. Stay posted for updates on the cat fight. Meow!

Ben Affleck…Hollywood is all a-buzz with rumors that the high-profile actor (in the news lately over the ongoing crisis in Africa he's trying to resolve  with politicians on Capitol Hill) may be mulling over a bid for Senator in Massachusetts. However, Affleck has been tight-lipped and appears to pooh-pooh the career move. Though intrigued with the political process, the talented hunk is apparently content to direct a film now-and-then, rub shoulders with power brokers in Washington, and what-have-you (without the necessity of a long-term commitment).

Taylor Swift…when I strolled into Walgreens last evening to pick up a few household items, I spied a “shrine” that the pharmacy had artfully erected at one end of the cosmetic counter singing the country-western star's praises. The inviting display features a handful of eye-catching publicity stills of the songbird, alongside a smattering of her best-selling CD’s, and memorabilia that fans are sure to scoop up over the holiday season.

Thom Bierdz…Tattler readers may recall that I published a post on a novel effort by a posse of die-hard fans to resurrect Bierdz’s former character – Phillip Chancellor III – on the highly-rated daytime soap Young & Restless. I’ve just been informed by one of his friends that a thousand signatures have been drummed up to date! The ball is now in the court of the casting director (and writers). Say, that (a returning role) would be a whopper of a Christmas present for Thom this year, eh?

Leonard Cohen…last night fans of the prolific Canadian singer/songwriter packed the house at Barclay’s Center. At 78, Cohen is seasoned pro, still capable of engaging concert-goers across the board. One reviewer noted that the charismatic performer – prone to sport a stylish "signature" Fedora on stage – is calmly and suavely tenacious. And, that his age is "a matter of pride". Top of the morning to ‘ya, Leonard! You go, boy!

And, how was your day?
