Julian Ayrs Celebrity News...Ben Affleck vs. Edward Kennedy Jr.! 1st Family in Hawaii! Connie Stevens to sell Manse!
Barack and Michelle Obama…just as I was starting to complain about shivering my butt off in a cold snap that descended on Los Angeles this past week, the news leaked that the first family jetted off to a scenic exotic climb in Oahu! Lucky bast**ds! Shortly after the witching hour, Air Force One touched down on the tarmac, then whisked away the Prez's entourage to a secluded vacation house in Kaila. The ritzy enclave is just a hop-and-a-skip away from a popular hang-out for surfers. After a bit of much-needed R & R , will Barack try to catch a wave or two? Stay posted for updates.
Ben Affleck vs. Edward Kennedy Jr…on the heels of the rumor that actor-director Ben Affleck may put in a bid for a Senatorship in Massachusetts, word from the Kennedy camp is that Edward Kennedy Jr. may pursue the post as well. Who has a better chance of nabbing the slot – Hollywood Royalty - or a member of a powerful political dynasty? It all may be a moot point, if Senator John Kerry doesn’t get confirmed as next Secretary of State.
Connie Stevens…of “Hawaiian Eye” fame (dating myself, eh?) is putting her long-time home on the market for a staggering $18 million. I guess the moolah for the reruns ran out. If the perky actress commands the ticket price, it amounts to a hefty profit for the aging starlet. Stevens originally purchased the Paul Williams architectural beauty for approximately $350,000.00 in 1974. But, to be fair, there have been upgrades to the property over the past few decades. The manse boasts a library, gym, wine cellar, atrium, and billiard room, for starters. The estate also features Hollywood must-haves such as a guest house, chauffeur’s quarters, tennis courts, and a swimming pool. Ms. Stevens confided that she will miss the rose garden, a grand 150-year-old Oak Street – and, most of all – the “memories”. Gosh, if those walls could talk! There would probably be enough fodder for twenty issues of the National Enquirer!
Sandra Bernhard…folks preferring zany off-the-wall humor – to romantic schmaltz this Christmas season - will probably be taking in the wild raucous stage show that the stand-up comic has planned for the Public Theatre Thursday thru December 31st. The in-your-face entertainer will also rock the night away with her newly-formed band "The Rebelious Jezebels".
Walking Tall…fans of the zombie thriller - which has scored big on AMC over the past three years and boasted soaring ratings – will be elated to hear that the on-the-edge-of-your-seat drama is returning for a fourth season. One of the creative forces behind the serial – Glen Mazzara – will switch hats, though, in view of artistic differences with the Network. Inquiring minds want to know …will the shake-up impact the show...or its popularity?
