Picasso...Guggenheim exhibit focuses on monochromatic palette!

Fans of Picasso may be disappointed when they stroll into the Guggenheim Museum in NYC to take in a just-unveiled collection of the artist’s works devoid of their trademark dynamic vivid colors.

Others may be fascinated by the exhibition which puts a spotlight on Picasso canvasses rendered in a totally monochromatic vein.

The curator has invited art-lovers to explore a palette which consists primarily of black, white, and grey.

Because the pieces are hung in chronological order, patrons are able to also trace Picasso’s artistic development in a refreshingly-new insightful way.

There are 118 works – sculptures, canvasses, and works on paper – on display through January 23rd (2013).

38 of the artworks – created from 1904 to 1971 – have never been shown before on U.S. shores.

The rare body of work is on loan to the Gallery and comprised of pieces selected from the private collections of family, friends, and collectors around the globe.
