Bab’s fans are ecstatic over the prospect of snapping up her new album “Release Me” - which has just hit the shelves of retail outlets around the country – for good reason.
A handful of the signature tunes include master tapes – stored in a vault for the past few decades – unheard ‘til now!
The much-anticipated album has been released in tandem with Streisand’s World Tour which is slated to touch down in major cities in the upcoming weeks ahead.
The roster of hits include:
• Didn’t We (Jimmy Webb)
• Willow Weep for Me (inspired by Billie Holiday)
• I Think it’s Going to Rain Today
(accompanied by Randy Newman)
• With one More Look at You (
(studio version from A Star is Born)
By the way, Jason Gould (the songbird’s son) has been corralled to perform a duet with his celebrated Mother on stage.
Years ago, when I resided on Flores Street, I used to spy Jason in the produce section of the old Mayfair Market squeezing all the veggies and fruits for freshness alongside all the other WeHo boys.
If I am not mistaken, Jason was a pal of a model I used to know in Vancouver (B.C.), by the name of David Knight (who was rumored to be his lover?).
Jason’s father is Elliot Gould who I worked with once in Toronto when he was up there filming a thriller with co-stars Suzanna York and Christopher Plummer.
Years later, I ran into the talented actor on a sound stage at CBS when he was filming an episode of Twilight Zone in the Valley (the updated version) I piped up.
“Hello, Mr. Gould.”
“Elliot, please,” he insisted.
The man is pretty down-to-earth and approachable.
Such a gifted actor, too.
I think Gould should be working more often, don’t you?
Good luck with the tour (and album), Babs!
