Julian Ayrs Celebrity News...Piers Morgan deported? Leonardo DiCaprio's popularity soars! Prez returns home to avoid fiscal cliff!
I am amused!
Leonardo DiCaprio…the screen heartthrob is basking in a surge of popularity – and being perceived in a spanking-new theatrical light – in the wake of the feature film release “Django”. The talented actor has surprised critics with a performance that proves his versatility once again. Originally, Director Quentin Tarantino was inclined to cast an older character in the meaty role. But, after a brief meeting with DiCaprio, changed his mind. That’s show-biz for ‘ya, eh?
Piers Morgan…at the end of last week the mouthy talk-show host was under siege from a posse of Americans up-in-arms over his staunch stance on the issue of anti-gun controls. In fact, viewers were so incensed by Morgan’s comments on the widespread owernship of "guns" in this country, that they rustled up a petition with the specific aim of having the Brit deported. I am not surprised that Piers was amused. When I heard about the bold-faced effort to oust the high-profile TV personality from U.S. shores, I LOL After all, in addition to the right to bear arms, the U.S. Constitution protects the right to freedom of speech. ‘Nuff said!
Charles Durning…the popular actor – best-known for his role in “Tootsie” – passed to spirit over the weekend. A triple threat – actor, dancer, singer – the versatile performer boasted a long list of professional credits in the realms of stage, TV, and film. The down-to-earth likable actor will obviously be missed by many.
President Obama…word out of Hawaii is that Barack is expected to cut his vacation in the exotic tropical paradise short - and jet back to the White House - before the “fiscal cliff” looms too large on the horizon to prevent a catastrophe. Lawmakers have until December 31st to hammer out an agreement before the Nation and its people are catapulted into financial and emotional turmoil. Hats off to Barack for his call to action. When the going gets tough, the tough get going!
