The Outstanding Art of Television Costume Design...dazzling exhibit at FIDM!

Currently, the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising is presenting the 6th Annual Outstanding Art of Television Costume Design in downtown Los Angeles.

The dazzling exhibit exalts the costume design of television shows and honors the work of 2012 Emmy® Nominated Costume Designers and Costume Supervisors.

Mary Rose, a costume designer and current president of the Costume Designers Guild, curated the display wowing fans of fashion in recent days.

The comprehensive exhibition includes wardrobe pieces from Boardwalk Empire, Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones, Once Upon a Time, Pan Am, Smash, Magic City, to name a few.

The main mission of the FIDM Museum and its illuminating Galleries is to educate and enlighten people (such as students, researchers, and designers) about the role of fashion, scintillating textiles, jewelry, fragrance, and accessories in history and their relationship to society as a whole.

The collections mainly focus on 19th and 20th century fashion with a special focus on European and American dress.

Altogether there are over 100 costumes (including a handful of props) to mull over.

In previous years FIDM has showcased television programs such as The Sopranos, True Blood, Pushing Daisies, and Mad Men.

The free exhibition runs through October 20th (2012).
