Los Angeles Times...popular ENVELOPE series screens top-notch flicks again! Book now, filmgoers!

Yesterday, the Los Angeles Times fired off an e-mail reminder that the popular ENVELOPE series is just about to get underway once again.

The film screenings - sponsored by the daily - are slated in for viewing just a few months before the OSCARS at a handful of local Theatres (the Lankmark in West Los Angeles, for instance) so that "industry insiders" have the opportunity to take-in a roster of projects that are worthy of Oscar consideration for that year.

I managed to book seats for a top-notch round of feature films which includes:

The Sessions (Fox Searchlight Pictures)
Rust and Bone (Sony Pictures Classics)
Anna Karenina (Focus Features)
Beasts of the Southern Wild (Fox Searchlight Pictures)
This is 40 (Universal Pictures)
Promised Land (Focus Features)

Although filmgoers in the public-at-large are also invited, priority is given to members of the following guilds – AMPAS, AFTRA, SAG, WGA, PGA, DGA, CAS, CSA, HFPA, ASC, BFCA, ACE, ADG, BAFTA, WIF, CDG, MPEG, MPSE, and ICG.

Guild members must provide proof of their paid-up status with their Guild affiliation to receive priority admission.

Priority admission for guild members expires 15 minutes prior to the start of each screening, though, so take advantage of it in the event there is a no-show, folks!

By the way, the sponsors usually provide guests with free popcorn and soft drinks (and, on occasion, even a delightful exotic cocktail or two).

After the flicks have screened, reviewers - such as well-respected critic John Horn - often moderate fascinating Q & A sessions with the stars (and directors) of the features which makes for a very entertaining night indeed.

See 'ya there!
