Word from my sources at the Starz Reel Social Club (RSC), an extension of the Denver Film Society (DFS), is that Jason Ritter is being honored with an Indie Voice Award during the course of the week-long festivities (November 11th).
The coveted prize is awarded to individuals who help foster an appreciation of film culture within the independent film industry.
"Since the 2008 Sundance break out hit "Good Dick", Jason Ritter has returned to the independent film scene year after year with "Peter and Vandy", "The Dry Land", "The Perfect Family", and most recently, "Free Samples"," said Reel Social Club Co-Founder, Jenny Bloom.
"We are truly honored to welcome him to this festival and present him with the first ever Indie Voice Award, setting the precedent of talented actors our generation admires for years to come."
According to officials at the Starz Denver Festival, "Free Samples" (directed by Jay Gammill' and starring Jason Ritter) tells the story of disaffected Jillian - a twenty-something law school dropout - facing a quarter-life crisis. Adrift in Los Angeles, Jillian discovers that her lack of talent makes her dream of pursuing the arts pointless. She surrounds herself with an oddball group of friends who reinforce her feeling that life isn't going as planned. The disgruntled heroine vacillates between cold and believably heartrending as she struggles to find her place in the world.
The Indie Voice Award presentation will take place Thursday November 8th at the "Free Samples" screening at L2 Arts & Culture Center.
Immediately following the feature presentation, SDFF Festival Director Britta Erickson will lead an audience Q & A where attendees will have an opportunity to discuss the Independent flick with in-person guests Jason Ritter, Tippi Hedren, Jay Gammill, and Joseph McKelheer.
In addition to the award presentation, Reel Social Club will host an evening at the Starz Denver Film Festival on Sunday on November 4th.
Stephen Gyllenhaal will be present for a special screening of his latest film - "Grassroots" - at the L2 Arts & Culture Center at 6:30pm.
Following an audience Q & A, Nathaniel Rateliff and A. Tom Collins will headline "ROCK THE 'FEST" at the Bluebird Theater.
"Presenting the politically inspired Grassroots and partnering with "Rock the Vote" to host a private concert was just a natural fit for our official night during the Starz Denver Film Festival," said Reel Social Club Co-Founder, Katie Shapiro.
"And with the timing of the election two days after, we hope that "Rock the 'Fest" celebrates the importance of our generation's voice and helps to activate the young vote in Denver."
In "Grassroots" (a fast-paced comedy/drama) a beautiful - but traffic-choked Seattle - inspires a young City Council candidate to push for an extension of the city's clean efficient monorail (according to the press release).
"ROCK THE 'FEST" attendees will receive complimentary bites by Mike2Kitchen Food Truck and hosted Captain Morgan's, Ciroc Vodka, and Stella Artois.
Tickets to "Free Samples", "Grassroots", and "ROCK THE FEST" are included in the Reel Package.

About Reel Social Club:
Reel Social Club was founded in 2010 as the first and official young patron extension of the Denver Film Society. Members get plugged into local film culture through exclusive parties, private screenings, and film festival experiences which directly support the Denver Film Society's year-round programming.
Its mission is to introduce fresh audiences to the DFS and help foster an appreciation of film culture in the community.
About the Denver Film Society:
Founded in 1978, the Denver Film Society (DFS) is a membership-based, non-profit SCFD Tier II cultural institution that produces film events throughout the year, including the award-winning Starz Denver Film Festival and Film on the Rocks. The Denver FilmCenter/Colfax presents film programs daily and is Denver's first and only year-round cinematheque. Members of DFS support one-of-a-kind programs reaching more than 200,000 film lovers and film lovers-in-training each year.
About Rock the Vote:
"Rock the Vote's" mission is to engage and build political power for young people in our country. Founded twenty-one years ago at the intersection of popular culture and politics, "Rock the Vote" has registered more than five million young people to vote and has become a trusted source of information for young people about registering to vote and casting a ballot. The organization uses music, popular culture, new technologies and grassroots organizing to motivate and mobilize young people in our country to participate in every election with the goal of seizing the power of the youth vote to create political and social change.
The Millennial Generation is diverse and huge in number, making up nearly 1/4 of the entire electorate in 2012, according to the organizers. This is both the challenge and the opportunity.
"Rock the Vote" is dedicated to building the political power of young people by engaging them in the electoral process, urging politicians to pay attention to issues that matter to young voters, and protecting their fundamental right to vote.
Their goal is to reinvigorate the country's democracy and redefine citizenship for a generation in 2012 and beyond.
